Bookitcon: Chapter Two- It’s a CHARITY Book Event!

I am pleased to announce the formation of the nonprofit UBUbizz!!!

The purpose of this nonprofit is to promote a love of literacy to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

Thanks to UBUbizz, the profits from Bookitcon: Chapter Two will be used to buy new books for two K-8 schools in Camden, NJ whose libraries need updating. The profits will also go towards creating a library for the nonprofit group Grace in the Mud.

Remember- even if you aren’t able to make it to Bookitcon: Chapter Two, you CAN make a donation to this wonderful cause by going to the Eventbrite page. The children will appreciate your generosity.

JOSH BERK  is the author of the teen novels THE DARK DAYS OF HAMBURGER HALPIN (named a best book for teens of 2010 by Kirkus Reviews & Amazon.com) and GUY LANGMAN: CRIME SCENE PROCRASTINATOR (2012). MARTINA BOONE is the author of the romantic southern gothic Heirs of Watson Island series, including COMPULSION, PERSUASION, and ILLUSION. Like her characters, she loves magical gardens, mystery, hidden treasure, ghosts, southern sunshine, dancing beneath the moon, and slow, lingering kisses.

ALBERT BORRIS   has tracked snow leopards in the Himalayas, backpacked through Iceland, and skated ultra-marathons in Georgia, but his favorite daily adventure is working with teens. Albert is a national award winning student assistance counselor. As a teacher and counselor, he runs workshops on suicide prevention, drug abuse issues, and peer leadership for youth. In spite of the bad jokes, he chooses to live in New Jersey. 


ANNA BRESLAW is a New York-based freelance writer and author who mostly writes funny things, or things about women, or both at once.

KAROLE COZZO lives outside of Philadelphia, PA with her loving husband, exuberant little girl, and smiley little boy. BARBARA DEE writes humorous fiction for tweens. S. USHER EVANS is an author, blogger, and witty banter aficionado. Born in Pensacola, Florida, she left the sleepy town behind for the fast-paced world of Washington, D.C.. There, she somehow landed jobs with BBC, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Television before finally settling into a “real job” as an IT consultant. After a quarter life crisis at age 27, she decided consulting was for the birds and rekindled a childhood passion for writing novels. AMANDA FOODY  has always considered imagination to be our best attempt at magic. A. V. GEIGER  is a popular online author on the story-sharing website Wattpad, where her original teen fiction has received millions of hits. Her writing career began with celebrity fanfiction, and her work draws extensively on her own experiences with fan culture and social media. S. J. GOSLEE  lives outside Philadelphia with her husband, two young sons, two dogs, and three cats. SANDY HALL is a librarian from New Jersey where she was born and raised. She has a BA in Communication and a Master of Library and Information Science from Rutgers University. KATHRYN HOLMES  grew up in Maryville, Tennessee, where she was an avid reader and an aspiring writer from an early age. She now lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and piles upon piles of books. A graduate of The New School’s MFA in Creative Writing program, Kathryn works as a freelance dance journalist, among other writing gigs. She is the author of “The Distance Between Lost and Found” and “How It Feels to Fly.”

CHARLOTTE HUANG is a graduate of Smith College and received an MBA from Columbia Business School, which is clearly something every aspiring writer should do. When not glued to her computer, she cheers her two sons on at sporting events and sometimes manages to stay up late enough to check out bands with her music agent husband. Charlotte lives in Los Angeles and is the author of For the Record (Delacorte, 2015) and Going Geek (Delacorte, September, 2016).

LEE KELLY is the author of A Criminal Magic and City of Savages. She has wanted to write since she was old enough to hold a pencil, but it wasn’t until she began studying for the California Bar Exam that she conveniently started putting pen to paper. An entertainment lawyer by trade, Lee has practiced in Los Angeles and New York. She lives with her husband and two children in Millburn, New Jersey.

LISA A. KOOSIS is a prize-winning short story writer, whose work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, including Family Circle, The Poughkeepsie Journal, and the Hugo-nominated Abyss & Apex. Lisa is a member of the SCBWI, an ambassador for National Novel Writing Month, and an active member of her local writing community. She is hopelessly addicted to writing contests, anything seashore-related, and accessories (particularly feather earrings and anything with fringe). KENDALL KULPER writes historical fiction with a fantasy twist for teen readers and knows more about nineteenth century whaling than she ever imagined. Her debut YA novel, SALT & STORM was published by Little, Brown on September 23, 2014. She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in history and literature in 2008 and spent several years as a journalist before deciding to write full-time. Bookitcon!

I am proud to finally announce Bookitcon- a book event taking place on Sunday, August 9th from 3pm-8pm!

Bookitcon will be composed of author signings, meet-and-greets, and an after party as well as a book drive concurrent to the event. We currently have 25+ authors confirmed to participate in Bookitcon, with more being revealed soon! To check out the amazing authors, click HERE!

Something that is unique about Bookitcon is that the majority of the profits from Bookitcon will be used to revitalize a library in a low-income school in Camden County, New Jersey. Books donated during the event may also be distributed throughout the area, wherever books are needed!
